Planet Comicon UPDATE with Additions and cancellations
The show is getting close. It will be held on
April 5-6, 2008
Planet Comicon, Kansas City, the largest pop culture and comic book convention
in this area, is approaching. The next Planet Comicon will be held at the Overland Park International Trade Center near 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park Kansas on April 5-6, 2008. The show is open on Saturday April 5 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday April 6 from 10am to 4pm. The exact address of the Overland Park International Trade Center, for those of you using a GPS device to find your way, is 6800 W 115th St, Overland Park, KS 66211. This is about ¼ mile east of Metcalf on 115th Street and essentially just behind Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store and the former location of CompUSA. There are some changes to the comic creator guest list – both additions and cancellations – see below.

Media and Model Guests
Star Wars' Kenny Baker, who portrayed R2-D2 in all 6 of the Star Wars film, as well as Time Bandit and Willow.
Star Trek's Walter Koenig, who portrayed Pavel Chekov on the original Star Trek television series and in all of the original Star Trek films. He also appears in the upcoming film Inalienable.
Popular actress and Scream Queen Brinke Stevens, who has appeared in more than 100 films
Model Tiffany Taylor, Playboy’s Miss November 1998.
All media and model guests will be attending the show both days, though you should check for hours of appearance to be sure you have the opportunity to meet them. The media and model guests will be signing autographs and may pose for photographs. There is a charge for autographs from media and model guests and may be a charge for photographs with media and model guests.
ICNH Productions will be exhibiting at the event to promote their upcoming film Deep River and will be showing a trailer at their booth. There may be opportunities to have signing sessions with members of the cast, as well as having some give-aways. They will be represented at the show by Executive Producer Joey Salamone and others.
Creator Guests
The creator guests list has changed a bit since our last e-mail. A few guests have cancelled due to personal or professional conflicts. The cancellations are Arthur Suydam, Michael Golden and Brian Pulido. All 3 regret the cancellations and will likely appear at a future Planet Comicon. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by these cancellations.
We have worked hard to book alternate guests to make up for these cancellations and have some GREAT ADDITIONS TO THE GUEST LIST.
David Finch – a regular on the Wizard list of Top 10 most popular artists, Mr.Finch has worked on Ultimate X-Men, New Avengers, Aphrodite 9, Wolverine, Moon Knight and many other titles
Bruce Jones – Bruce Jones has been writing comics for more than 30 years. He is best known in recent years for his work for Marvel Comics on Incredible Hulk. His past work includes Creepy, Eerie, Conan, Ka-Zar and many other titles. One of his upcoming projects is The War That Time Forgot, which he is writing for DC Comics.
Angel Medina – Angel is best known for his work on Spawn and Amazing Spider-Man, as well as Kiss Comics.
Javier Saltares – Javier is best known for his work on Ghost Rider and has also worked on such titles as Wonder Man, Catwoman, Flash and more.
Walter Day -- Mr. Day is the founder of Twin Galaxies, the world authority on video game player rankings and the official supplier of video game scores to the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2007, he was featured in the critically acclaimed documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. Now, in its 27th year, Twin Galaxies still creates the contests, enforces the rules, maintains the records and crowns the champions on home consoles, PC-based games and arcade games.

We will also have a vendor area filled with collectibles of many types and featuring dealers from across the country. There will be 1000s of comics, toys, shirts, posters, statues, magazines and other collectibles available for purchase.
Admission is $15 for a Weekend pass. Kids ages 7-14 are $6 for a Weekend pass. Kids under 7 are free. Weekend passes are available in advance at the discounted rate of $12 for an adult weekend pass and $5 for a kids weekend pass on the web-site, by e-mail or telephone, and at some local area comic shops (see list on the web-site).
